Students shine in A Level results 2014!

David Baldwin: “Churchill Community College Sixth Form are once again really pleased with A-Level results. We have been able to support students into top universities to study a wide range of subjects as well as supporting students into prestigious apprenticeship and employment routes. In addition, we have outstanding Year 12 results including those from Year 12 students who have already completed A-Levels at A* grade due to early entry.”

We are delighted that all students have secured their place at University. We have supported 7 students into Russell Group Universities (Roslyn Bell, Amanda Jahangirfard, Connor Mason, Emily Gibson, Daniel Wells, Shannon Richardson-Hall, Ryan Glasspool) and 6 students into competitive professional degrees: Adult Nursing, Social Work, Law & Primary Education all at Northumbria University. (Sarah Malkinson, Diana Margine, Demi-Leigh Ryles, Charlotte Forster, Alex Twitchin, Shannon Hills).

We have 8 Year 12 students with 17A*-B grades at AS/A2 between them who are currently taking part in The Brilliant Club scheme with Durham University. The students have worked with a PhD tutor to submit an undergraduate research project on the use of placebos to improve performance. Most of the group have already completed an A2 level in English Literature and two of the students have achieved 3 As in their AS exams and A*/A in their A2 English Lit. Louise McRae, Matthew Sample, Kirstie Williamson, Nicola Wilson, Joe Ross, Shannon Lumley, Dylan Petts & Ben Howells.

Jess Atkinson – Jess has overcome adversity (including adjusting to life with a guide dog and a diagnosis for panhypopituitarism) and has secured a place at Northumbria University to study Childhood Studies & Disability Studies.

Adam Mann from Year 13 has not only secured a place at Teesside for Television & Film Production but he has also been awarded a Royal Television Society Bursary.  There were several thousand applicants and Adam has been awarded one of only 20 such awards.

We have also continued our strong record of supporting Year 13 students into competitive apprenticeship schemes – 3 students in to NHS for Ward Based Health Care, 1 Student in for Engineering at Nissan, 2 students into NTC for Sport/Building Services and a range of others including Financial Services, Customer Service and administration
