North Tyneside Council Measles Advice

The PE department at Churchill Community College has been awarded School Games Gold Mark status based on the provision of PE and Sport opportunities, competition and leadership in School Games in 2013/14.

To achieve Gold Mark Status the PE department has increased the range of activities available to all students through the extracurricular programme, which takes place before school, lunchtimes, and after school.  In 2013/14 all students received a minimum of two hours of curriculum PE per week and 60% of students across the college accessed the extracurricular programme on a weekly basis in a range of sports.  New sports were added to the programme to help encourage more students to participate as well as developing local club links, including the introduction of handball, dodgeball and volleyball. The PE department now has active links with over 15 sporting clubs across North Tyneside in a range of sports and physical activities.

Level 1 intra school competitions took place across the academic year with students representing their houses and all results contributing to the overall house point totals at the end of the academic year.
