North Tyneside Council Measles Advice

22 of our Year 8 students recently went on a visit to Beamish museum to learn about the idea of a Dickensian Christmas to support their study of the classic novel, A Christmas Carol. Students from Mr James’ English class were accompanied by their Head of Year, Mr Jacobs, on their visit last week.

Students travelled down the Drift Mine and to the Pit Village to learn about life for the working classes, as well as exploring the affluent Town area to see how the idea of a ‘Commercial Christmas’ was emerging for the first time during the 19th Century. They even had time for a spot of Ice Skating!
