Community College joins national healthy cooking challenge

Too many cooks did not spoil the broth at Churchill, as budding chefs took part in a national cooking challenge to win a share of a £5,500 prize pot.

Pupils, parents and teachers from Churchill Community College joined by members of their local community battled it out in the Let’s Get Cooking BIG Cookathon 2014.

At  Churchill Community College  cooking kicked off at  7.30am with more than 500  people taking part. Let’ Get Cooking – which runs the country’s largest network of healthy cooking clubs – is aiming to beat last year’s success, when more than 40,000 people took part.

With 92 pizzas made by 9.00am and 300 pizzas cooked by 11.40am by children, staff and Governors from Battle Hill Primary School, Stephenson Memorial Primary School, South Shield Community School (Year 7) and students and staff from Churchill, the aroma drifting down the corridors of the College were amazing.

Michelle Deans from Lets Get Cooking and Ben Coates from Pizza Express to watch the activities and encourage the cooks, as well as do demonstrations for the watching bakers. Follow the days exciting activities on Twitter at:
